Welcome to the Consuelo Mendez Middle School Library

Library Hours: School days from 7:00 A.M.-5:30 P.M. on Mondays and Wednesdays and from 7:00 A.M.-4:P.M on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. 

Located on the second floor of Consuelo Mendez Middle School

 

Fall and winter in the Library

The library is collecting materials for a maker activity in the mornings this year the goal will be to create things gifts to give away. This program has proven to be very popular in the past and we are looking forward to making it even better this year. Students have made bracelets, wallets,rings and jewelry and many other very creative items out of recycled materials. 

The library has been super busy with scholars teachers and parents browsing through the recent arrivals of brand new books, great young adult reads as well as some adult selections. No matter what you type reading materials you enjoy Mendez library has something for you and if you want something we don't have Mr. Cervantes will track it down for you.

 

Reading Clubs: 

Reading Clubs have started again and are off to a great start! Reading club attendance is at an all time high in every grade level and some members are sitting in on several book club meetings everyone is enjoying the readings.  Click here to get more information about Mendez's reading clubs!

The Library in the Morning:

Mendez students are welcome and encouraged to visit the library as early as 7:00 a.m. Morning library activities include: reading books and magazines, checking in/out books, using the computers to check email and research, playing chess, doing homework and working on projects or just hanging out. The library gets crowded in the mornings, on Fridays there is music, loud music.

 

The Library throughout the Day:

Scholars may be given passes to come to the library during the day when they have finished their class work. Scholars may also be sent to the library to work on projects or for independent study or research for a class or for extending classroom learning. The Library after school:

The library is used for a variety of after school activities every day after school the library is in full use by tutors, students, groups, clubs, baby showers and retirement parties. 

 

The Library is home to the Consuelo Mendez Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society.
